ELEMENTS OF AN ONLINE LEARNER-CENTERED COURSE

Online text-books, websites, original articles, inter-group learning, intra-group learning, peer-to-peer learning, learning journals and class Wikis are elements used to create a learner-centered online infectious disease course where the learning is driven by cases accompanied by question sets. In this session, course instructor, Niamh Kelly will examine the value of each of these elements and how she scaffold each element to enhance students’ learning. Niamh will discuss her role in this course as a facilitator/director of student learning operating more at a cognitive/meta-cognitive level than at the content delivery level.
